Assessment for inpatient rehabilitation admission
Dr Gonzalez works in both the public and private health system.
Having extensive contacts in public health, Dr Gonzalez is able to facilitate inpatient rehabilitation admissions to public rehabilitation hospitals by outlining a clear problem list and rehabilitation plan.
Dr Gonzalez is also able to admit patients directly under his care to Dorset Rehabilitation Centre.
Dr Gonzalez also has senior medical staff appointments at the following public hospitals:
- Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre (Austin Health)
- Kingston Centre (Monash Health)
- Broadmeadows Health Service (Northern Health)
Patients who may benefit from an inpatient rehabilitation hospital admission include those who have:
- suffered an acute illness or condition that has impacted on their general conditioning and ability to perform activities of daily living (eg. recent stroke, hip fracture, etc)
- suffered an exacerbation of a chronic illness or condition that has resulted in a step backward in their general condition and ability to perform activities of daily living (eg. multiple sclerosis, back pain, etc)
- undergoing elective surgery where it is likely that their ability to initially look after themselves post-operatively may be compromised (eg. post hip/knee replacement surgery, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, etc)
Dr Gonzalez is also able to provide comprehensive pre-operative assessments in anticipation of patients’ likely post-operative functional status and physical needs.
